Mike and I have been creating cartoons together since we met in 1986. Charlie Hippo is one of our early art school creations. He started out as a bit player in a pencil test film from 1988 entitled 'Bingo Beach Party'. Even though Charlie wasn't technically the 'star' of the film, we liked the hippo character so much we decided he was a keeper.
